YOU CAN HELP

Photo 36The support of individuals and corporate organisations is absolutely vital to our ongoing success as many of our key services to clients are not fully or adequately funded by government.  This shortfall requires our operational staff to work with ingenuity and creativity to provide a first class service with only a fraction of the necessary resources at their disposal.

Our primary need is financial, but support-in-kind and the voluntary donation of expert competencies in HR, accounting, IT and fundraising is also a priority for us.

Why help us?

Jobcare’s aims and objectives are informed by national and European directives on employment and social inclusion.  On an individual, human level we believe work has immediate correlations with dignity, identity, confidence, creativity, quality of life and social cohesion.  Accordingly, we see ourselves as an ancillary support service to individuals, businesses, government agencies, and to the economy and community in general.  Since Jobcare’s inception in 1994, we have provided practical help and advice to tens of thousands of unemployed people.  Jobcare works closely with institutions such as prisons, the probation services, and various rehabilitation services.  Jobcare reaches out through the delivery of training workshops to community groups and by visiting people in the queues at social welfare offices.

Some statistics

  • In 2008, 69% of Jobcare’s clients entered work or further education within six months of completing the Employment Preparation Course
  • In an average working day, Jobcare will have 50-70 people visiting the jobseekers’ Resource Room
  • Jobcare employs 46 Community Employment staff to operate its services, with a view to improving their employment chances by the end of their contract
  • Client satisfaction surveys consistently report that Jobcare ‘exceeds’ clients’ expectations
  • It costs €91,000 to keep one man in prison for one year – it costs just €31,000 per year to put one man through the Trasna programme for ex-offenders
  • National statistics show that 27% of released prisoners are re-admitted to prison within one year.  Out of 29 participants on Trasna since January 2008, 24 (81%) remain moving in a positive direction.

How to help

We need resources to continue to deliver our services to the increasing numbers of unemployed people coming to Jobcare, and to develop our courses and programmes to remain relevant to the changing needs of our clients and the marketplace.

Specifically our needs are

  • professional, voluntary time in HR, IT and accounting
  • experienced tradesmen to commit to engage our work teams for work experience and to deliver to them on-the-job training
  • laptops and wireless communication hardware and software
  • premises or funding for premises
  • long-term employment finance for our CEO and other experienced employees through whom we can offer a broader and more expert service
  • Cash donations to bridge the shortfall in operating budgets.

Jobcare welcomes support from individuals and commercial organisations.
If you feel you can help with any of these areas please contact Paul Mooney (Co-Founder and Chief Executive) at 01-6773897 or email info@jobcare.ie

Mock Interviews

The external ‘mock interview’ is an important element of the Employment Preparation Course.  If you or your company would like to assist us by providing a mock interview for one or more of our clients please contact info@jobcare.ie

Corporate Support

Photo 36Jobcare has established partnership relationships with banks, retail chains, factories, hotels, telecommunications and IT companies.  These companies choose the level and type of support they have the capacity to provide.  Our needs are wide-ranging and currently include

  • Consumables – with a throughput of over 100 people per day at our centre, basic running costs are quite substantial.  It has always been our principle not to charge for basic services as this would inhibit or prohibit the vast majority of our clients from participation.
  • Accommodation – Jobcare has never owned or had sole use of a premises.  Our current accommodation in Pearse Street is stretched to the utmost in terms of space; city centre offices, workshops, training and meeting rooms are desperately needed on a free fixed lease basis or as a gift.
  • Stationery – while every economy practicable is made, stationery costs are a major drain on resources.
  • Expertise – the donation of experts’ time by corporate partners makes a huge difference, especially in the areas of HR, finance, IT and publishing.
  • Financial donations – many organisations prefer to make once-off or annual donations to us for general purposes or for specific project.

Apart from the satisfaction of supporting a worthy cause, corporate supporters often find that partnership with Jobcare enables them to meet their corporate social responsibility objectives and produces very valuable spin-offs in terms of networking, information on employment trends, solutions to HR problems and invaluable public relations exposure.

If your organisation would like to partner with Jobcare please contact Paul Mooney (Co-Founder and Chief Executive) at 01-6773897 or email info@jobcare.ie
